Have I missed any reference to the fact the the Forum is still running on GMT, while the rest of us are now in BST?

Don - on my PC all the times here seem to be on British Summer Time... (he says at 16: 51)

Here comes my renewed reputation as a weirdo! My PC is definitely showing 16:53 right now, but your message above is shown as 15:51. :erm:

on another thread I have rather boringly gone on about the difference in timing whether you are logged-in or logged-out

Well I'm logged in, if that helps.

Don Petter

I've just tried on my lap top, where I'm not logged in, and the Forum times are still showing as GMT there as well.

... forgive my obtuseness here - I think I'm always 'logged in' when I visit this site - how do I see it without being logged in?

Don Petter

I've just logged out - then logged in again, and there is no change. Forum times are still stuck at GMT.

Okay, okay. Logged in, logged out, you should now see BST. Before it was just our little world where we knew what time it really was - the rest of the world was under the impression they were on GMT .

Edit: But I'll be interested to know what time it is on Don's machines!

All times are GMT +1. The time now is 17:13.

The above was copied and pasted from the bottom of the page- at 5:13pm. So it's showing the right time for me, and has done so without fail since Sunday morning.

well either I am going mad or in the last few minutes someone has flicked a switch because the logged-in and logged-out timings are now all correct BST or GMT + 1 on my computer

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

[See Msg #11]

[Just been called away for a few minutes.]

Afraid here I'm still seeing your above post as 16:15, so no change there.

But I'll log out, close the site, then come back in, and report further ...

Well on calling up the site anew, the times were showing correctly (my last post above as 17:26).

BUT, as soon as I logged on again, they went back to GMT - the post above is now showing 16:29!

Is your own computer set to BST? If so I can't think what can be causing it to show the forum at GMT.

Don Petter

Before anyone asks. I've just closed the site, deleted all cookies, gone in again, and results are just as in #16:

Logged out - times correct (BST)
Log in - times revert to GMT

Sorry, ff.

Oh yes (as I said in one of my first posts). The clock is currently showing 17:37. No problems on any other sites (just checked eBay time on that site - 17:38).

I logged out at 17.37 having taken note of Don's 17.36 posting. In my unlogged state I read new posts, Don was still showing 17.36. I am now logged in again, so no discrepancy here.

Anyone know that song "Let's do the Time Warp" ?

On your forum General Settings, have you got it set to 'Automatically Detect DST ( Daylight Savings Time) Settings'?

johnb

Don,

Can you click on "Forum Actions" - General Settings

Scroll down and you will see the "Date and Time Options"

Check whether you have set the "DST Correction Option" to Automatic.

I think this will solve your problem.

Sorry FF, I didn't see your reply before posting.

Don Petter

Doh! (RTFM)

My personal settings were showing as GMT, not GMT+1. I changed it manually, wondering why no-one else had mentioned having to do it themselves. Then I saw that the next field was showing 'no automatic switching for daylight changes' or some such. I've now changed this to 'automatic', and hope to be all set for the next millennium. :ok:

Yup! We crossed. Many thanks, anyway.

'Twasn't there, was it ... I was just a split second before you.

Don,

I believe the correct settings are:

Time Zone: GMT (Western Europe Time, London, Lisbon), not GMT+1
DST Correction Option: Automatically detect DST settings

(DST = Daylight Saving Time, i.e. the BST correction to GMT)

An afterthought.

If my problems were all to do with my local settings, what magic did ff carry out prior to #11 which pleased all the others? :erm:

:magic::magic::magic:

The main setting for the forum was GMT (+ automatic DST), but there was a separate control for setting DST for 'guests' which I hadn't bothered with. So I bothered with it.

john,

Yes, quite correct. Those are currently my shown settings.

(I may have misled by changing the first field manually to GMT+1 before I found the 'automatic' switch.)

Many thanks,

Don.

Thank you for bothering. I'm glad someone else may have gained from my little excursions.
