Given that a Gaelic singer has won the world porridge making championship this is obviously the right place to ask...
What is a Spurtle?
And Please don't say it's a Spon.

Any relevant tunes will be listened to with interest.

It's more a kinda fancy stick for stirrin' the porridge Global http://www.leevalley.com/en/images/item/gift/45k2227s2.jpg
- did ye no get one when ye were up in stirinaway in the summer?
.......as for a track, I stuck one on 'Reasons to be cheerful' last night as part of an ongoing 'art' project and I rather enjoyed it - thought it was out of this world in fact.:ale:

Ha ha ha ROFL! Years ago, my husband gave me two spurtles in my Christmas stocking. Nothing to do with chanter sticks or music but ever so useful in the kitchen for, yes, stirring porridge and a host of other culinary uses!

So, does incorrect use, or absence of, a spurtle result in a stushie?

Naw Global, you're thinkin' of a stramash! A stooshie (as we say in these here perts) is more like when you attack yer haggis wi' yer skian dhu (or wi' a steak knife, if that's your preference). It's more of a mini stramash and when you've seen the results of the improper use of the Spurtle you'll ken whaur I'm comin' fae!:erm:

Do they still have "stroopaks" in the Outer Hebrides"? Or has Madame H & S suggested to crofters and diners that they are not safe?

A fragment allegedly from a previously unpublished work by McGonagle

'Ach would I have a wifie
With my Spurtle I wouldnae whack her
Lest she ruin my poor lifie
By splashin all me parritch'

now if we can just get someone to set it to music and add a haunting refrain we may have an MB hit on our hands...
