Default Womad, Charlton Park - 29-31 July 2011 and Bristol Zoo - 11 June 2011

Thought it might be good to have a thread for any Womad discussions in the months to come. The first acts have now been announced. It looks like this guy is on the Womad train this year. If so, fantastic. http://womad.org/artists/jackie-leven/

Anyway at this point can someone explain WOMAD to me? I've never been. And the people who do go, how do they keep busy for the rest of the year? And what radio station do they listen to?

I suspect it's like this, which never looks like much fun

irrespective of what you're listening to.

Although, having said that, I am apparently going to be at this event.

It's in a large Scottish city called Storn o'way apparently.

The arboretum. I'm not a lover of big crowds so that is my favourite spot.

And then, as with any good festival, there is the very little known, slightly out-of-the-way, stage. That is where you go to be able to tell everyone else about all the great stuff they have sadly missed.

For obvious reasons, I am not permitted to give a complete newcomer details of the footpath. However, let us just say that it is on the very outskirts of Malmesbury and provide this small photo as a clue:

    Lat,
I know that very place because the OH took a llama's picture there as well as in St Just !
As you say, the very, very, very outskirts of Malmesbury.
