And for me, with an extra attraction in the shape of the Beethoven piano-timpani cadenza transcribed for violin and timpani (BPO/Jochum, DGG).
Though I prefer it only marginally to an excellent Krebbers/Concertgebouw/Haitink.

One obvious one is the Haendel recording on electric violin with Concerto Koln/ Furtwangler. The 78rpm quadrophonic version naturally

One of my most memorable musical experiences was a concert in the King's Hall, Belle Vue, Manchester: Oistrakh performing Beethoven's Violin Concerto with Barbirolli and the Halle. I think it was in 1961.
