The Reversioning Thread

I think I've managed to locate where the controls are to most items, and certainly to the sidebars on the Profile Page (PP) - which is the same style as the homepage (HP) sidebar. So now the questions:

People have said the forum is 'very red' and 'too pink' (on chromatic grounds alone - pink has never been everyone's favourite colour). The thing about red is that it's pale version is pink (a 'different' colour - blue, green and yellow, for example, just have darker and lighter versions).

Red was chosen to reflect the dominant colour of the old R3 MBs and I am rather wedded to this idea. I can reproduce that exact colour if it's thought preferable - it's slightly darker.

Now, I changed the sidebar to pink. The PP links were much clearer, but it was a sort of pale 'baby' pink. Darker could be 'too pink' again. One solution would be to make all the dark red rather more of an orangey-red, and I may be able to use a pale orangey/cinnamon shade for the sidebars.

What thoughts? - and if everyone disagrees, we can have a poll . The thing is, I think a slight change, at least, is necessary to correct the change in the PP sidebar which arrived with the upgrade. I can't see how that can be altered without altering the HP sidebar because they share a style.

It's the PP sidebar that people complained of. The upgrade has introduced a lot more dark red which makes the links harder to see. A case of change one thing and and knock-on takes over.

Well, I hope someone is going give me some guidance - even if it's only to say, Don't bother doing anything. (Perhaps I can make the PP just a leetle bit paler?)

For what it's worth ff I think you should just leave it as it is. Many people, including me, will be struggling to know what is different and it won't take long to get used to any changes that have occurred. You are doing a great job.

Call me nostalgic if you like but I prefer the red of the old boards - less tiring on the eyes than this colour. Failing that, green is restful.

the only thing that irks a bit is the intense red on the block on the left-hand side of the Profile pages, a red which makes the text written on it hard to read...

It all looks (and looked) fine to me, as far as the bits I regularly use.

The only one thing that I find annoying is that when you click on 'What's New', the page that comes up has something like 'Results 1 to 25 of 31' at the bottom which is in black on a red bar and almost impossible to read.

Yes - I've just looked at my profile page for the first time in ages, and the text on the left such as 'Send Private Message' is in dark blue(?) on red and difficult to read.
