"The World's Greatest Classical Music Festival" in the rest of the world

Wonder how many overseas listeners will be willing to listen at 48 kbps this season? I'm pretty sure this one will take a pass. I've been listening online for the past 5 or 6 years, but there are too many other sources of great music at much higher bitrates to tolerate this anemic stream. For instance, Swiss Radio Classics at 128 kbps, Avro Klassiek at 256 kbps (with one stream at 320) as well as numerous others. For some years many of us have been pressing for some sort of subscription scheme whereby overseas listeners could pay for a higher bitrate to no avail. We've heard all the excuses from BBC management and others, but if they were really interested in this market they would find a way.

So this listener will enjoy those other outlets, plus video from Medici.tv at 129 € /yr. He will miss the ambience and programming of the Proms, but not enough to tolerate that bitrate.
