Default BBC 4 Great Thinkers in Their Own Words

kicks off 9 pm tonight with rare Freud interview

Following on from the superb Great Writers: in Their Own Words, this new series delves deep into the archives to produce a potted history of late 20th-century thinkers. Unlike their forebears, latter-day intellectuals abandoned ivory towers and embraced new science programmes like Horizon to share their theories. Episode one begins with the boffins who revolutionised how we thought, beginning with a rare radio broadcast by Sigmund Freud recorded mere months before his death. The august line-up includes, among others, Carl Jung taking Freud to task.

...er..ahem, i must confess that igot caught by another programme and missed it, i was very glad to do so because the other programme was one of the most enchanting and illuminating documentary poems i have ever seen ... see it no crap no bullshit ...a vivid account of life as a 'mother' to a litter of wild turkeys, utterly unsentimental but honest and moving, the answer to the Attenborough school of 'natural wonders' more like Thoreau really, the most remarkable piece of work ...

ACtually, it was 12 years after Laing wrote The Divided Self. But...
