BBC 4 Great Thinkers in Their Own Words
kicks off 9 pm tonight with rare Freud interview
Following on from the superb Great Writers: in Their Own Words, this new series delves deep into the archives to produce a potted history of late 20th-century thinkers. Unlike their forebears, latter-day intellectuals abandoned ivory towers and embraced new science programmes like Horizon to share their theories. Episode one begins with the boffins who revolutionised how we thought, beginning with a rare radio broadcast by Sigmund Freud recorded mere months before his death. The august line-up includes, among others, Carl Jung taking Freud to task.
