    Default Viva!!ldi, Reconstructions and Telemann

A great weekend for early music fans.

    CD Review
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b016kd38
10.15 Andrew talks to Richard Wigmore about newly-released CDs of Vivaldi including a disc of violin concertos from Federico Gugliemo, cello concertos from Jean-Guihen Queyras and a recording of the opera Farnace from Diego Fasolis.

I thought this (Farnace) would be coming up.

Saturday EMS: Andrew Parrott on reconstructions
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b016kd3d
Catherine Bott talks to scholar, musicologist and conductor Andrew Parrott about the complex process of reconstructions, including his most recent project: the reconstruction of JS Bach's Trauer-Music (Funeral Music). This work was composed in 1728 when Bach's patron, Prince Leopold of Cöthen, suddenly died at the age of 34, but the score has almost completely disappeared. Andrew talks to Kate about how he reconstructed this work through various clues in other of Bach's works, and plays music from his new recording with his Taverner Consort and Players.

(Who’s calling CB Kate?) Any thoughts on the subject (not about Kate)?

    Sunday EMS: Telemann and Gypsies
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b016kd89
Lucie Skeaping presents highlights from a concert of music by Telemann given by Ensemble Caprice at the 2011 Lufthansa Festival inspired by the gypsy music he encountered in Poland

I wonder if BBC still has the recording of that Telemann concerto performed by Ensemble Matheus at last year’s late night Prom.
