Sad news although Whitby is a favourite spot. Just don't let it clash with their goth festivals. Tentatively, ie I'm not sure if I have thought this through, I would like to see winter festivals having 33% or more events outdoors. That includes Celtic Connections.

They also have a great folk festival in Whitby in the summer, and the Goth 'festival' (I'm not entirely sure Goths *do* festive - more likely Gloomival) is visually charming. They're so black and white.Originally Posted by Lateralthinking1

Here's one of the problems with outdoor festivals though...
One of the Whitby festival goths worked to me. Pleasant chap, very bright and strangely quiet. I moved on quickly. Couldn't cope with being required to mark him down for having too much integrity.

some of these are pale shadows of former selves, or masquerading under an old name, some are regulars at this event, some are new and some are definitely worth seeing.
