    Default Musical Anniversaries 2012

I am part of a group which meets weekly to listen to recorded music.

Each year we keep note of significant anniversaries for composers and performers with a view to remembering them in some way. I tend to be the one who prepares the list, but 2012 is proving to be a bit of a fallow field. Can anyone here help with fleshing things out a bit (especially the performers section)? This is how it stands at present:

Frederick Delius, 29th January, 150th Anniversary of Birth
Fritz Kreisler, 29th January, 50th Anniversary of Death
Jacques-François Ibert, 5th February, 50th Anniversary of Death
Edward German, 17th February, 150th Anniversary of Birth
Jan Ladislav Dušek/Dussek, 20th March, 200th Anniversary of Death
Janques-François Halévy, 17th April, 150th Anniversary of Death
Friedrich von Flotow, 26th April, 100th Anniversary of Birth
Jean Françaix, 23rd May, 100th Anniversary of Birth
John Ireland, 12th June, 50th Anniversary of Death
Igor Markevitch, 27th July, 100th Anniversary of Birth
Giovanni Gabrieli, 12th August, 400th Anniversary of Death
Jules Massenet, 13th August, 100th Anniversary of Death
CLAUDE DEBUSSY, 22nd August, 150th Anniversary of Birth
John Cage, 5th September, 100th Anniversary of Birth
Hanns Eisler, 6th September, 50th Anniversary of Death
Francesco Geminiani, 17th September, 250th Anniversary of Death
Conlon Nancarrow, 27th October, 100th Anniversary of Birth
Maurice Ravel, 28th December, 75th Anniversary of Death

    PERFORMERS
Fritz Kreisler, 29th January, 50th Anniversary of Death
Kathleen Ferrier, 22nd April, 100th Anniversary of Birth

Ha ha! Two years in a row is quite enough.

Not much of a scandal from today's perspective, a few gay magazines in his hand luggage?

Well, it was also some whips and masks with the porn. However In 1941 he made the first recording of the Symphony No. 2 by Tchaikovsky, with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra! And he was responsible for Sydney Opera House being built where it was and should have been director and gone on to greater things, Copland composed for him, but The Press did for him (what's new?)

I wasn't aware of any scandal. Thanks for the mention. I've added Eugene for 13th June.
