I have the Beaux Arts - Philips 'Duo' series. I like it.

    EA,

I only have the Florestan Trio (Hyperion) in this piece. No point of comparison, therefore, but I find them very satisfying - I see it's not on your list, is it nla?

I thought I had included this, but you are quite right - I didn't. So now it heads the list.

Cortot, Thibaud and Casals seems to be my only version. Decent place to start, but the work has never done much for me. Will hope to learn the error of my ways on the 17th!

A hot sounding field but I too have found the Florestan immensely rewarding.

I've only ever had the Trio Petrus. They were recorded for a limited edition by Patek Philippe (the watchmakers), following the violinist Raphael Oleg's success in a Moscow competition in 1986. The other players were Francois Guye (cello) and Hortense Cartier-Bresson (piano).

Never been one of my favourite Schumann works. But maybe BAL will open some new doors to it.

Doh, completely failed to learn the error of my ways this morning. Must admit that my concentration easily wandered: 'fraid the work still didn't do much to grab it. No doubt my fault. Verismissimo: did you do any better?

Well, I see that this BaL has generated an overwhelming response!!! I didn't even manage to hear it, and inspite of this late hour, I STILL don't know the final recommendation! What, pray, what is going on??? Think I'll stick with my Beaux Arts, in any case...

Haven't had a chance to listen yet, LMP. I have to do a piano practice with my 9yo daughter at that time, then take her to her lesson.
