A Breakfast By Any Other Name
ITEM 1: I'm another who finds the chatter and any mention of CHARTS dreadful. Radio 3's almost sepulchral tones in days of yore at this time in the morning, were an escape from Today's debates or local radio's bonhommie.
But the first thing I would like changed is the name of the programme. Who are they to say what listeners are eating, thinking or doing at this time? At least "Morning on 3" was just a statement of fact (at least to domestic listeners). Luckily the BBC doesn't yet have "In Tune" called "Drive Time" although the current ethos probably wouldn't preclude that.
ITEM 2: Thankyou FF and anyone involved in handling this resuscitated forum - and a hello to FrenchSalySherrattEine et al with whom I've had occasional discourse on the Whateveritwas Corporation boards. Long may this thrive and be read and discussed with fervour in Broadcasting House!

To be honest I'm not especially bothered what the programme is called, as long as I enjoy the content (and I am currently very much enjoying a Handel organ concerto!).
For me, the "breakfast" programme on weekdays is actually the fifth hour of through the night, on Saturdays it's the first hour of cd review. There is usually some convergence on Sundays, unless I've had a heavy night when its the Sunday morning Susie Klein programme.

Oh just an excuse to try out these new messageboards really. Likewise, my breakfast is a moveable feast. Today's fare was enjoyable enough in the bathroom this morning but news every 30 minutes and repeated invitations to vote for and request my favourite bits of Mozart whilst I'm preparing myself for blizzards or otherwise I can do without.

may one ask the keeper of the statistics, if it's not too much trouble, what is winning in the most-often-played-on-Radio-3-this-year stakes, please?
having just listened to Clair de lune and a chunk of Appalachian Spring with a Vocalise and Wedding Day at Troldhaugen still to come this morning.

Charts and league tables are never a good idea. They can backfire, by encouraging us to choose the 10 most irritating presenters, or the 10 most overplayed works. 
Not that I think we should do this.
