An interesting composer whose music I first heard many years ago, much influenced by Peter Maxwell Davies in those days. Well worth investigating and he's still around I understand.

Dear All,
Cyril Lloyd is a Professor at the Royal Academy of Music, and composer in residence at Sutton Grammar School amongst a number of other engagements. He is an established composer of large-scale symphonic (I believe 8 so far, but could be wrong) and choral works, but I'm afraid I don't recognise the Peter Maxwell Davies influence any longer!
Kind Regards,
Nick.
It looks as if we have welcomed Mr Lloyd as our latest member. It will be good to hear an update on his work.
Good news indeed.
I can confirm that Cy Lloyd is still composing. I've known him since we attended the same grammar school in the 1960s! Personally, I can't recollect a Maxwell Davies influence in his music over the years, though. His style has certainly become more traditional as the years have progressed and he is currently working on a 7th symphony. In fact, I was listening to the 3rd movement (which I received by email yesterday) this afternoon (merely on Sibelius) - a waltz.
Thanks for this update, H-W-H, and welcome to the Forum!![]()
