They're giving the 'Olympics dates' as 27th July – 12th August (in the case of this particular hotel). Proms are 13 July to 8 September 2012 so careful scrutiny of the Proms calendar is needed!

It might mean that if you are travelling from home into central London you are travelling in the opposite direction to most of the traffic - so you could stnd on the (relatively) empty 'up' platform of the underground & look at the even more packed than usual 'down' platform opposite & feel extremely pleased that you're not going to the Olympics.

At a mere 18,000 pounds per night, it really is the only place worth considering. The Savoy just doesn't cut it any more.

Looks a bit of a dump to me!

I can't say I'm surprised, when even places such as Beit Hall were charging £30 more per night than usual, and insisting on a minimum four night stay. I wonder how long it will be before hotels start drastically reducing their room rates, although at this late stage I doubt it will make much difference because people attending the Games will already have accommodation sorted elsewhere. It shows how much hotels were charging when it's cheaper to stay in a hotel in Paris and commuting from there to the Games!

The hotels have only themselves to blame for this. I have all my tickets for the Proms but, in expectation of the latest news, still no hotel booked. I will wait a little longer and see what bargains are to be had.
