"Society is indeed a contract. It is a partnership in all science; a partnership in all art; a partnership in every virtue, and in all perfection. As the ends of such a partnership cannot be obtained in many generations, it becomes a partnership not only between those who are living, but between those who are living, those who are dead, and those who are to be born.”
Here's a tribute from Steve Martin

One thing for sure; there won't ever be another one like him. In the early seventies I thought I'd bought a 2nd hand Phil Harris LP in a jumble sale, but the record on the inside was Flatt and Scruggs (on the Hallmark Label I seem to remember) - still counts as the very best accidental buy I ever made. Then I found out it'd been them who did the Beverly Hillbillies' theme, and for me Earl and Flatt were heroes.

Sorry to hear this news. Great music. A fairly frequent choice on Spotify lists even in the current times.
Funnily enough, that Beverly Hillbillies tune might be one of the first songs I ever heard.
