Dreams can come true ER....Saints back in the PL...(mind you, might be a nightmare !)

Anyway, just to add my 3 bobs worth.....
Th first night is a big showcase, and my guess is that a lot of people tune in, who perhaps are there to be really won over.
Such an audience surely requires both some familiarity in the music, as well as something really dramatic and attention grabbing.A star soloist also comes in handy.
Its a big opportunity, and requires really thoughtful programming.
I would have thought a popular concerto, along with a big choral piece, (maybe something C20) would be a good mix.

Not sure this programme fits my bill for a first night, but hey, what do I know?

me too. I can't even get record sleeves onto my posts.
Still, I can do other things which make up for it. Well, thats what I tell the boss when technology rears its head at work.....

(and I seem to be stuck with the forum's rubbish "house" smileys)

Edgeley Rob: for the Dyson Canterbury Pilgrims go to the Three Choirs at Hereford this year.

One sadly rather assumes the Coronation Ode will be minus military band as used in the famous EMI King's Cambridge recording. I note the 1911 version being performed omits "Peace gentle Peace".

Your assumption is correct Nick. However, it's not quite true that the version performed is 1911. It's 1902 with the additional movements composed for 1911. That should annoy the HIP movement

Now I'm really confused. Does that mean we are having "Peace, Gentle Peace" or not?
