I have the Rubinstein, and Nina Milkina's 1970 Wigmore Hall recording on Unterschrift Classics. Is this still available, I wonder?

Will be a bit silly if it is just complete sets, I feel. How can you not consider Ignaz Friedman and Horowitz, when doing Chopin's mazurkas?
David Owen-Norris...hmm...don't think he'll chose Rubinstein or Ashkenazy somehow. Tends to chose less well-known recent performers.

I find them a bit boring laid end to end. Much prefer mixed Chopin recitals on record, which, if I remember rightly, was the way Ashkenazy approached the business.

I agree, though if you wnat to collect a composer's complete works, this is a simpler way to do it.

No Fou Ts'ong listed - hmm, he's still my number one for the Mazurkas.

    Fou Ts'ong
    Janusz Oleniczak

Exemplary indeed, Vinteuil - ever since I bought this marvellous set, I have played it over and over.

And yet the recommendation made was of the NIFC recording - all the mazurkas, as I understood it, played by Adam Harasiewicz (piano) - NIFC NIFCCD208-209 (2CD)

I think I must be missing something. I assume that the NIFC has released more than one set of the mazurkas, the above 'portmanteau' box, and the recommended complete set.

    Is that right?

Anyone here listened tot he Harasiewicz set? No one above seems to have mentioned it (other than in #1), or expressed surprise at DON's recommendation.

I enjoyed the survey, although I don't think I shall be racing out for a complete set of these pieces.
