    Another promotional event aimed at the media. Doesn't mean that during the course of an entire day it couldn't produce some extremely interesting material - but what's the point if only Radio 3 listeners take any notice?

    Alternatively, it could broadcast the best material in a single programme - or even in one of the occasional, now long-forgotten, 'evenings'.

    I didn't listen to any of the Portraits stuff on R3 as it would obviously be awful

    However I did try to start a Portraits thread for we non-gushers and it reached a measly 15 posts. There are some wonderful portraits about and it's interesting to hear of our favourites, I thought.
