I am rather a fan of Dream Theater. Anybody else admires this band?

Haven't really heard any of their stuff. All that 'cover verison' stuff was a bit strange - a cover of the whole of Purple's 'Made In Japan' ?!!

To what extent would you think that many of the groups that are championed on this thread would feel that they had failed completely in their songwriting if they knew of the political stance taken by some of their enthusiasts ?
I'm not saying that you have to believe in god to appreciate Bach or even that you have to worship Satan to be interested in Death Metal but given that many of the punk and "post punk" songwriters have explicitly political lyrics how does that fit in with being (for example) an enthusiastic supporter of the royal family (and not Royal Family and the Poor ..............)?

I read in an interview in the NME back then that they were right wing .I had never heard of a right wing pop group before that time.(bit like I had never heard of a right wing lecturer).
Perhaps it was a bizarre pose !!

'Westworld' spent a lot of time on my turntable in the early eighties.
