Default iPlayer, Firefox and the recent Flash 11.3.300.262 update

Just a quick word - if any people are using Firefox and find their iPlayer suddenly doesn't work, the cause might be the recent Flash update.

iPlayer with IE 9 is not affected.

There is a known issue with the latest Flash update which is detailed here.

I don't have time to pursue the issue just now but will investigate further a little later.

iPlayer OK, BUT the gigantic ads flashing when linking to BT Yahoo back with. Thought I'd fixed it earlier.

Why ARE these companies so annoying? They must know what the impact is going to be.

The problem seems to be some kind of clash with RealPlayer, so it probably only affects those people with RealPlayer installed on their computer. (RealPlayer used to be used by a forerunner of the current iPlayer.)

There is a Firefox Help page here that deals with the issue and which cured the problem for me.

(I am going to uninstal RealPlayer as I never use it these days.)

Hopefully Mozilla and Adobe will develop a proper solution, rather than relying on this work-round.

[Edit] PS The same problem occurred last week but, at that time, I couldn't identify exactly what caused it, so I resorted to Windows System Restore - the only time I have needed to do that in well over a year.

OT, but this is the nearest to a relevant thread I could find at the moment.

Looks like the iPlayer has crashed. No programmes on Radio 3, or indeed any BBC channel are currently showing working links to the iPlayer, well not here, anyway.

All working here too, both from the iPlayer homepage and the direct programme links on the FoR3 homepage.

All fine here now (been out at work since I last posted on this thread). It must have been a short-lived problem. I had fears that with all the promotion they are currently giving the iPlayer, it might have overloaded the servers.
