EA's on holiday! Let's hope he doesn't miss it.

Would that be the old performance available on DVD since 2007?

Could well be. There may well be people who don't have the DVD who might have been glad of the heads up. There was a Bruckner 8 from the same stable a few days ago.

Yes, I think it's a 2006 performance. Nagano is certainly not well enough to conduct it at the moment, is he?

    ?

I assumed it was a recording, I didn't think it was live, I was just drawing attention to the fact that it was on, knowing that one or two people are interested in this work.

Indeed. I was actually asking the question.I thought I caught the date in the credits at the end and was asking if I had been mistaken.

    Missed that (the date).
    Is he not well?

I'm looking forward to EA at the Proms on 7 Sept.

My only complaint is the camera work which was ludicrous and off-putting. Peering into the f hole of a violin at one moment and displaying the whole orchestra upside down the next - and those out-of-focus blobs of light intruding across the screen.

But do try to catch this performance if SkyArts repeat it. Close your eyes, if neccesary and enjoy a wonderful performance

Thanks HS, yes the camerawork was a bit over-excited - especially during the Storm scene. I had tuned in at about 1930 expecting to find Brahms 4 in progress (Radio Times) but it was part way through a programme interspersing bits of rehearsal and performance of EA with Kent Nagano talking thoughtfully about the work. The actual performance I too found terrific
