Great story, Calibs - reminds me, I saw a book of Woody Allen stand-up material in the local charity shop yesterday - must go back & see if it's still available.
Did Ms Mercouri ask you to use your influence to return the Elgin Marbles?![]()

They were relevant to the matter, as I recall.
The only thing I recall clearly was arriving at the office the following morning to find pinned above my desk a large photo of Mercouri extending a claw-like hand, with the legend inscribed on it: "I waant yourrr Marrrrbles...."

O'Neill?
(Or have a walked into a cunningly-laid trap?)
Time for a snoozle - should be back by 18.30![]()
Emperor Jones also had two film premieres, first involved Paul Robeson, second Ossie Davis. Can find no links there. Later stage premieres, Olivier Theatre. Ditto no links. It's also a record label, ditto, etc.American Knight, apart from John W. Ripley only came up with Earl of Orkney. He was a very interesting person, connected, possibly, to Knights Templar. Recent representation of separation? Dunno. I only post this to show, once again, I am paying attention at the back!
.......... also an opera premiere ................
