I have a problem. Every time I log in and look at the boards the system is telling me that I have unread threads even though I have actually read them. It's rather annoying.

So, you are yourself down as the last contributor to the thread, but the thread title in What's New? is still in bold?
Sorry, scrub that - I understand what you mean now.
I can only say that it's fine for me: those which have had nothing added since I last looked have lost their bold (but are still in the list), those which have unread posts are still bold.
I can confirm this has just happened to me as well. It wasn't meant to be a test. I had looked at the last Shostakovich Quartet post and closed the forum window and went elsewhere. On returning and calling up the forum again I had that thread appear in bold in What's New?, but on going there I found that the last post was the one I had already seen.
In case it helps, throughout the above sequence I remained logged in, so that wasn't a factor.

Just tried it again. Just the same. All What's New? threads came up bold, including the Shostakovich one and this one, though there was in fact nothing new.
Thinking about it. Is it meant to work this way? Should What's New? bridge across sessions or not? I think it should to make sense, though now I'm not sure.

I'll see how I can frame a question for the vB forum. Was it formerly working properly for you, Don? Nothing has been changed to the settings.
Edit: Okay, I have found a solution (allegedly) but if I do it now everyone will be complaining instead of just you two! (That's because all threads are initially reset as 'Unread'; thereafter, the man says, it should work - it did for the enquirer). I may leave it until tonight.

See my edit, above.
It work's fine in N. Staffs ... ( hadn't even used it before, but now I'm addicted)
Would that be N. Staff's, by any chance?
I've looked into it more now and I didn't (as in, 'haven't ever') set the option recommended because, of three, it's the most processor intensive, working on the database rather than cookies. The controls 'Help' is also suggesting it refers to the opposite situation - Unread threads being marked as Read. Soooooo ..... we shall see.
Interesting that Paul's seems to be okay, as is mine. The vB question suggested that only some of the members had the problem.
