    To my shame, I hadn't realised that the original Decca release included a DVD until I dug it off the shelf to check its content when I saw that the newer release/reissue was on the CORO label and didn't look familiar.

    I have to admit to having found the Striggio stodgy and harmonically limited to the same chords eternally repeating, maybe as theologically intended, much preferring the more polyphonic religious settings of that period. Managed to stay awake for most of the Prokofiev 7 however: a light late light compliant with the new strictures imposed by Zhdanov's Stalin-creeping mob on the ailing composer, and moving for that reason.

    From the title, I thought we might be in for a Radio 3 Early Music treat - one whole day's worth!!
