Back to RF's original topic: EK gave the same recital last Saturday at Carnegie Hall, at least it seems so based on the program listing. The one review that I quickly found is here:

He has a few more appearances coming up this month at Carnegie Hall:

I wasn't able to attend the 18 May recital (but I've seen EK in recital elsewhere, so best to let someone else have a chance), nor will I be able to attend the later NYC chamber DSCH recitals. However, FWIW, a few days before that solo Carnegie Hall recital, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center featured a chamber music program of all contemporary composers, which included EK's 2022 Piano Trio, written in response to the invasion of Ukraine:

chamber music, Lincoln Center, Alice Tully Hall, Edward Elgar, Béla Bartók, Edvard Grieg, George Walker, Benjamin Britten, classical music, opening night

Kissin was in the audience at Alice Tully Hall for the first half, and took a bow after his work.
There was some different encores, but the scheduled program was the same.
I have a friend in the U.K. who is quite excited to be seeing him in approximately 3 weeks

I had been prepared for multiple encores. He stopped at 4 and I exclaimed “That’s it?” audibly and several people around me laughed.
The most encores that I ever encountered were Olga Kern at the Gilmore Festival in Kalamazoo yesterday. There must have been at least seven, all barn burners.

Yes, the year should have given it away: 5/11or 11/5?

We heard Kissin play in Malmesbury Abbey, Wilts, in the 90s, I think, as part of the excellent Music In Country Churches series - as patronised by the then Prince Charles who lived just down the road. Just like after a church service, the audience all left by the same exit, the magnificent Norman porch. Kissin had positioned himself there a bit like a vicar greeting his flock and shook hands with everyone as they passed by.

I thought his debut Carnegie Hall recital outstandingly good with some tremendous Schumann, still amongst my favourite performances.

Kissin used to be active in the recording studio - it seems a long time since he released anything new. I seem to remember a Beethoven sonatas disc that was quite underwhelming.
