My daughter took that approach when she realised that her then partner had feet sufficiently similar in size to hers that they could get away with just having multipacks of black ankle socks and grabbing a pair from the drawer as needed. With 5 children I would have thought there might be a bit of a problem with having to find a pair the right size, even if they are all the same colour?
Mismatched socks has been the London fashion for a long time now. See, we set the best new trends down here.
I finally got round to Having My Say on the BBC: I answered Don't Know or Not At All Important or Ineffective to about half the questions (eg. How important is it the the BBC represents every part of the country? Don't Know means No opinion). I said that the DG's statement that the BBC's obsession with the 'big number' (how many people 'use' the BBC) and 'the rest is secondary' shocking. Numbers are important, content is secondary. What should the BBC do more of? Nothing - there's too much of everything except high quality arts and culture, programming that is truly educational and demanding.
And .... oh, what's that sound of paper being scrumpled up ...? But I did get a thank you email this morning - 'Thank you for helping to shape the future of Our BBC'. Why would anyone want to help them shape the future of their BBC?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I, too, have Had My Say, although the questions were so broadly couched that I don't see what purpose the answers could serve other than possibly reinforce the preconceptions of those who devised them - 'Thank you for helping us by confirming that we're heading in the right direction'.

Yes, it concentrates on all the things they're aiming to do and then asks how well they're doing them. By saying Don't Know at least I was saying I wasn't interested in most of the things they were aiming to do and more interested in things they weren't doing. X Wrong Answer! Go back and try again.

I care very much Classic FM is right: Radio 3 should not be marketing classical music as relaxing, restorative or any other soporific description as if its function was to help people through their difficult times. Pure hypocrisy. I feel another green ink letter coming on. Not actually another letter as I gave up the will before writing it, but another urge to write a letter.
"But the BBC defended Unwind, saying its output would be “unlike anything heard elsewhere”. It will feature “restorative” sounds from young British music-makers, the BBC said, accusing Classic FM of playing the same dead, male composers." And the clichés!
