It's bad enough to be reminded of R3 Unwind before the evening concert (for those might find it a bit too daunting).Originally posted by Serial_Apologist View Post
Radio 4 now offers banal simpering plugs for Radio 3 before its news announcements, seducing would-be ignorant (in the literal sense) listeners into soporific Radio 3 nirvana.
I've never succumbed.
Is its theme tune 'The snowflakes are dancing'? (Tomita, of course!)

To be fair, it is sometimes hard to tell the difference between Radio 3 and CFM in the pre-lunch schedule.Originally posted by smittims View PostYes, I think you're right. I've noticed a few CFM, or even Radio One-type mini-announcements creeping into TTN and Classical Live : telling us the time periodically (which assumes everyone is listening in the UK's time-zone!) and reminding us every 15 minutes or so that this is Radio 3. Also , reminding us repeatedly of what is 'coming up' 'later' or 'after this...' (cue for yet another trailer) , leaving me wanting to scream 'then why the hell don't you play it NOW! , and more less-polite comments.
I expect this is the Jackson style bedding in. We can probably expect worse.
Classical Live has dropped its 'performances you won't have heard anywhere else' claim, at least while it's featuring repeats of some from Wigmore Hall lunchtime concerts, and now says it's bringing us works featured in 'live recorded' concerts.

Presumably dead live broadcasts would only be suitable for necrophiliacs!Originally posted by LMcD View Post

Unusually, the version on iPlayer has already been trimmed to 6 hours and is tagged "online", so I wonder if Auntie has already noticed the problem?Originally posted by kernelbogey View PostAt 0259 this morning (28.1) the Chopin was interrupted for about 20 seconds by an alien music feed. It sounded (maybe) like the music run during the countdown to tv News on BBC24. I've written a complaint - for their information rather than a complaint per se.
BTW Were you listening on a DAB radio?
Here's a short clip, it's interrupted ~12s in.

I heard it - and yes, it was the BBC News Channel countdown music.Originally posted by AuntDaisy View PostUnusually, the version on iPlayer has already been trimmed to 6 hours and is tagged "online", so I wonder if Auntie has already noticed the problem?

Perhaps this was a trial run for how all R3 news bulletins will be counted down.

I wish they'd use the lovely old World Service Lillibullero theme instead.
Sadly, we can't get decent FM reception in our part of The Forest.

FM used to be good here, just as well because DAB wasn't, but then FM suddenly became impossible, since when I have had indifferent and erratic quality sound as DAB hasn't stepped up to the mark... Seems odd when there are now lots more transmitters.Originally posted by AuntDaisy View Post
