Yesterday I put on a charity shop CD - of highlights from Marriage of Figaro - conducted by Neville Marriner. I was so taken with it that I looked to see if there are any CDs available - but sadly very few. I did find one version - which may or may not be the same - from Momox advertised on Amazon, so I've ordered that.

Typically - Amazon fashion - another "New" supplier led to a completely different version by Keilberth.

There may be some Mozart operas in CD versions conducted by Marriner on eBay - otherwise the dreaded downloads and/or streaming seem to have completely obliterated any signs of the originals.

I hope that what eventually arrives will turn out to be "more or less" what I ordered - and at least it shouldn't cost a lot - around a tenner.

If it isn't, you could try for the top listed copy here, for £11:

Having heard that highlights CD I'd certainly be interested in other Marriner Mozart operas - a couple of which were rated even more highly by some reviewers/commentators, though I don't want to have to pay very high prices for them, or low prices but with a "gold plated" shipping cost from far flung corners of the world. I'll keep my eyes open.

I really don't know what happened at Amazon - the Marriner MoF "as advertised" had completely different details in text from what I wanted, and the image didn't look right either. So I tried to cancel the order anyway.
However it seems that the cancellation was initiated but didn't actually happen. However today a copy of the complete MoF came through our letterbox, and apart from the lack of the booklet, and a slightly damaged jewel case, it seems to have the original Philips set with the CDs in reasonable condition - and at under a tenner - seems almost a bargain which I will look forward to listening to later. I don't even know if it came from Momox as it was one of the various "new and used" items on the Am.uk website.

It would be nice to get the booklet, but just having the CDs is certainly what I was hoping for. If this turns out well, I should look for the other Marriner Mozart operas later.
