Morning fair enough but surprised that no Radio 3 evening concerts are considered worth listening too.Originally posted by Kernow Malc View PostMy classical music listening in the mornings and evenings has pretty much settled on a mixture of WCRB from Boston and Radio Swiss Classic with a bit of Ancient FM as well. No Radio 3 at all.
Some more positive feedback for R3 in the Times.

It may attract fresh fans, but alienate old-style 'loyalists' in the process..Originally posted by gurnemanz View Post

My morning listening is usually YLE, like an increasing number of Forum members it seems.Originally posted by gurnemanz View Post

Evenings are split between Radio 3 and BR Klassik, WDR3, RBB3 (these three often sharing the same live concert) and NPO4, quite interesting evening concerts on this Dutch station...if you can get over the adverts (they cease once the concert starts!).
I used to love the lunchtime concerts on Radio 3, but not now they are not live (meaning as they are happening! (like Monday's from Wigmore), the chopped-up bits absorbed by Classical 'Live' are not very satisfying as a 'live' concert experience.

When they first became available in decent sound I started off listening quite a lot to random playlist nonstop music stations (I have 20 or more as pre-sets on my streamer) - even those with announcements in a foreign language which I cannot understand, but over time I have come round to turning to them much less and do also like actual radio programmes to whose content someone has given some thought .Originally posted by Roger Webb View Post

Yes, seemingly serendipity rules on stations like YLE, but I do notice a pattern...for example Arthur Foote's Pno Trio No 2 comes round surprisingly often!!.....in fact almost as often as something by Florence Price, say, does on Radio 3 - both inexplicable!!!.......although in the latter case I suspect someone has given some thought....to what end I've no idea!!!! 🤔Originally posted by gurnemanz View Post

Very interesting 'live' concert (recorded in January) by Freiberg Baroque, featuring some unusual composers: Fischer, Pez, Kusser and...Bach!.....ah yes, but Johann Ludwig Bach!!
Luister naar 'Avondconcert: Wo 30 apr. 2025': https://www.npoklassiek.nl/uitzendin...0-avondconcert
19.00 UK time.

I've been watching concerts on the (fairly) new ARD Klassik YouTube channel, including a splendid Sibelius 3rd with the SWR Orchestra conducted by Hannu Lintu.Originally posted by Roger Webb View Post

Ah, thanks LMcD, I noticed that a couple of concerts I listened to on internet radio were also advertised as available on ARD Klassik TV, but didn't know it was available via YouTube. I've just got back from a week in Aldeburgh in two non-TV holiday rentals!....I'll have a look in the morning!Originally posted by LMcD View Post

As I understand it, this new channel will feature performances by 16 radio orchestras and vocal ensembles.Originally posted by Roger Webb View Post

Yes, there's some interesting stuff.....looking at their 'channel' on YouTube, there's plenty to highlight the poor showing of classical music on the BBC in general, and i-player particularly!Originally posted by LMcD View Post
