The interface does look appealing. I don't know why you are not allowed to tune in from the UK. The internet radio section of my tuner/streamer gives unrestricted access to thousands of stations worldwide, searchable by location, genre, popularity. A South American classical station I like is Rádio Batuta Clássico from Rio, Brazil. No talk, readout of what is currently playing and complete works only. Just tuned in - Bach Solo Sonata Arthur Grumiaux.Originally posted by MickyD View Post
That's a real shame for everyone, it is such fun to use. Found some very lively South American and Greek stations with traditonal music. Just checked and the only BBC station available is World Service. So obviously the Beeb are clamping down again.

It's already started but thought I had better put it on for those 'saving' tonight's Prom for the TV broadcast of it tomorrow.
It's The Schleswig-Holstein 'Last Night of the Proms' tonight, broadcast on BR Klassik....and yes they have Elgar Pomp and Circumstance and 'Rule Britannia' in the second half!

Sorry about that.....I listened 'live' - actually it was a recorded concert as I recall - and it was fine.Originally posted by LMcD View Post
'Not available for legal reasons'.
Just looking again, that was a while back, the concerts are only available for a certain period after first broadcast...I just checked last night's concert and it does play....but I can't see where it says for how long it will be available.

My first job on coming downstairs in the morning is, kettle, unplug tablet, look up Proms (well you never know!), look up WDR, BR, NPO etc for the evening concert.....make coffee go back up, wake up wife (carefully!!), switch on Radio 4 News (which often lasts five full minutes......'bluetooth' tablet to radio turn on BR Klassik!.....I have taken to it in the mornings too......at least I only get one word in five....and the musics always good!Originally posted by LMcD View Post

I think it's usually a week for BR Klassik.Originally posted by Roger Webb View PostSorry about that.....I listened 'live' - actually it was a recorded concert as I recall - and it was fine.

Yesterday's concert has "Noch 6 Tage verfügbar" which Google Translate says is "Available for 6 days".

Thanks AuntD, that would explain why LMcD couldn't listen to something that was first broadcast in July.Originally posted by AuntDaisy View PostI think it's usually a week for BR Klassik.

I’ve been listening to BR Klassik in the morning as well. Did you tire of the Finnish station?Originally posted by Roger Webb View Post

I didn't tire of the music - although certain works were repeated quite often.....Arthur Foote's Piano Quintet for example, good work, but why that? But the main reason was the repetition of those 'jingles' between pieces - most annoying, as it's one of my all-time favourites - the rising motif from the Parsifal Prelude; it got to the point where I would turn over to somewhere else just to avoid it!Originally posted by richardfinegold View Post

So it's BR in the morning, despite my lack of German - I lived in Berlin for a year, but didn't learn much, and listened to VOA most of the time!.....

For years our morning listening has been Radio Venice. No commercials except their own station and it’s in Italian. However they seem to have playlists and after 10 years or so it’s become a tad predictable so I’m trying alternatives.Originally posted by Roger Webb View Post

I'm pretty sure YLE has complete programmes that it repeats, or at least 'playlists' - without doing a thorough analysis it's pretty obvious someone at YLE likes Handel arias and violin sonatas.....so do I, but some composers are never done, whilst some obscurities - and not Finnish, which you could understand - are done almost daily!Originally posted by richardfinegold View Post

Don't know Radio Venice, I'll give it a try.....funny thing, although I have thousands of recordings on LP and CD, together with 'everything' on Qobuz, I still like the serendipity of someone elses choice!

Thanks for that Roger, that's tomorrow's listening sorted.Originally posted by Roger WebbHaving sung the praises of BR Klassik's morning concert, I find the evening one excellent too. Not an orchestra I've even heard of before but the Bruckner 7 was really well played....

... and before that they had Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival: Cappella Mediterranea - Cavalli, Monteverdi, Stradella... (192kbps MP4 here).
