Ah, thanks LMcD, I do check every morning to see what the evening concert is on BR...along with SWR, RBB (Berlin) and NPO4 (Amsterdam)....oh, and Radio 3! Tonight's features the Italian 'Salterio' - so not part of the British Fest!...but intriguing enough for me to tune in at 7!Originally posted by LMcD View Post

No, I've had a dig around, and can't see another......as this festival is Dresden, this was probably just a 'bought-in' one off, as it was well outside the usual catchment for BR......Dresden would usually come under MDR's jurisdiction.Originally posted by LMcD View Post
Not that I can see, but I'll keep you posted!
This is MDR Klassik's webpage, as you see from it the Runnicles opening concert is available to 'listen again', but no mention of others.

I heard Quilter's Three English Dances on BR-Klassik not long ago. Sort of fare used to be on R3 Matinée Musicale many moons ago...Originally posted by hmvman View PostTalking of BR-Klassik, I've got it on at the moment and they're playing Haydn Wood's 'London Snapshots' suite. How lovely to hear some British light music on a German radio station!

Laudable though BR Klassik may be (I know - I lived in Bavaria for a year) it's afternoon offering ("In den Nachmittag mit Musik zum Genießen, lassen Sie sich inspirieren!") has just as many as, if not more, short chunks and single movements than R3, eg today:
12:04 4. Satz aus: Sinfonie Nr.1 D-Dur, op.25 Sergej Prokofjew (1891-1953) / Saint Paul ChO; Wolff 12:09 Violinkonzert A-Dur, D.96 Giuseppe Tartini (1692-1770) / Carmignola; Venice Baroque; Marcon 12:23 Bells Across The Meadows Albert William Ketelbey (1875-1959) / Slowakisches RSO; Leaper 12:32 Ouvertüre aus: Saul, HWV 53 Georg Friedrich Händel (1685-1759) / English Concert; Pinnock 12:45 2. Satz aus: Klaviersonate C-Dur, KV 545 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) / Martha Argerich; Piotr Anderszewski 12:50 Etincelles, op.229 Emile Waldteufel (1837-1915) / PhO Kosice; Alfred Walter 13:04 Ouvertüre aus: Donna Diana Emil Nikolaus von Reznicek (1860-1945) / SO Göteborg; N.Järvi 13:11 Konzert A-Dur, RV 349 Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) / Europa Galante 13:25 5. Satz aus: Streichquartett a-Moll, op.132 Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) / Münchner RO; Schirmer

Why 'laughable'....I'm listening to Bruckner 4 Paavo Jarvi/BRSO.....and I'm not laughing!......if I wanted a laugh I'd turn to FNIMN!Originally posted by gurnemanz View PostLaudable though BR Klassik may be (I know - I lived in Bavaria for a year) it's afternoon offering ("In den Nachmittag mit Musik zum Genießen, lassen Sie sich inspirieren!") has just as many as, if not more, short chunks and single movements than R3, eg today:
BR Klassik is now my preferred morning listening between 9am and 11 (when the 'chunks' take over!), complete works by interesting composers, and in excellent sound, as the Bruckner is.
