What's surprised me is that the thread title must have been original, as I think that only Hosts with permission can change them after the post has appeared.Originally posted by eighthobstruction View Post....Faux-real....
Maybe Petrushka can tell us what this is all about. Perhaps he saw all the Proms 2025 threads appear and disappear and wondered why they (but plural posts?) had been deleted?
But perhaps better still for ff to delete the whole thread, unless we feel like wandering off into the land of conjecture.

What actually happened is that I asked a question about how to contact Eloquence about a faulty disc, clicked on 'post' and within a minute found their contact email address. It was late last night and tiredness is my excuseOriginally posted by Pulcinella View Post

As I'd found the answer to my own question it was no longer needed so I looked for a 'delete' option but there doesn't seem to be one. I decided to just wipe it clean - and, yes, I can change the heading on my own posts and thought everybody could.

Maybe the original poster can, but I've seen lots of messages suggesting otherwise (i.e., Host: Please correct title).Originally posted by Petrushka View Post

I must confess to tinkering occasionally where allowed if I spot something wrong or inconsistent in a thread title. But I think a little note appears saying that an edit has been carried out.
No worries: glad you found what you wanted and hope that you get a replacement.

I think there's a time limit. If it was changed straight away, yes, the OP seems to be able to do that. What would have happened if Petrushka had just deleted the content and not added Deleted post instead I cannot say. Some bossy machine might have intervened and ticked him off.Originally posted by Pulcinella View Post

A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I tried that and you do indeed get a bossy box on the ears telling you to put in text.Originally posted by french frank View Post

There ought to be a mechanism whereby the OP can delete a thread once opened in cases where it's been posted in error. I've a memory of Dave2002, I think, doing exactly what I did a while ago."The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink
