I guess we have a serenatocentric culture rather than an aubadocentric one.

I concur absolutely with all the above. But sometimes, usually abroad, Caliban has bestirred himself. I've started a thread for 'Dawns' just in case, and kicked off with one of mineOriginally posted by Stillhomewardbound View PostWell, speaking for myself, dawn tends to be a daily event occurring some way before midday and as a gentleman (or 'lazy arse', as my ex bf would say), it is not a time of the day with which I am familiar.
But seriously folks, the dawn sunrise provides great light...
Got a couple of sunsets to add here this weekend too..."...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

That is a fantastic photo Caliban. It didn't quite fit on my laptop screen however. Really weird though I had to increase the text size so the photo got smaller to fit it t the screen!Originally posted by Caliban View Post

This sunset was taken from the Aurora when we had just dropped anchor in the Gulf of Suez prior to transiting the canal the following morning. I recall how wonderfully still and peaceful the atmosphere was, though the con trail at the top is a reminder that one will never entirely escape the modern world.

Superb, shb... Nothing quite like sunset on board after a hot day. I can hear the chinking of icecubes in glasses even now
Your sun is definitely over the yard-arm there!
It was one of the best ever. I haven't enhanced those colours at all. It made one laugh with disbelief, I remember - ridiculously splendiferous! I have a couple of pics taken of the people I was with, mouths open in amazed, delighted grins at the spectacle, faces glowing gold from the lightOriginally posted by Pabmusic View PostQuite brilliant (almost literally).

This photo of that stunning sunset on the 1st September was taken by a friend of mine:-

And this is sunset at Bosham Quay- a great spot for sunset watching- which is a quick 5-minute walk from Pee Towers:-

And another Bosham sunset, taken from the end of my road:-

Really? I was there in June. Having long been an admirer of of PGW, I had always thought "Bosham" (the Earl of Emsworth's heir) rhymed with "Gosh-am". I was quite disappointed to find out this was not so.Originally posted by Mr Pee View Post
