The typos could have been worse, bearing in mind the replacement of the "a" by "e" - good thing the "l" stayed in place.
However when you consider that the actual making of the sign would have been contracted out, so gone past more than one person, one does wonder whether no-one saw the mistook, or if perhaps the signmakers decided to leave the Met's poor spelling for all to enjoy...
