I heard a radio broadcast of Dame M playing it here a couple of years ago. My wife kept begging me to turn of the awful music but I felt like I had to listen out of duty...I've never gotten Schoenberg, even his non dodecaphonic stuff

I was lucky enough today to hear on some very good equipment an early 'first edit' version of the recording which will come out as an LPO Live CD, later this year it is hoped.

It is an absolute knock-out, in every department. I shouldn't imagine that anyone who contributed to this thread last year will want to hesitate

It was a humoristic reference to the fact that I happened by the queue on my velocipede and bandied words with some familiars

I don't think that floor managers on bikes is a good idea.
bad enough having them hanging around the statue, and intimidating folk .....

However, a discussion about what people get from the Schoenberg PC might be a good idea.

Perhaps they should have floor managers for this purpose!

I suppose 'horrible' was a bit harsh ferney,I just didn't like it.

The music was over - time to show one's appreciation for what was by any standard, a terrific performance.

At the 1983 Concertgebouw/Haitink Prom they even gave us an encore (Beethoven's Egmont Overture) which I thought even at the time was a touch superfluous but it sent us into the summer night in cheerful mood.
Fair point Pet,I'm not sure there's any other way, just doesn't feel right.
