I'm a little late in noting this, but sadly Sara Tavares, a Portuguese/ Cape Verdian singer, died in November at the young age of 49. The news doesn't seem to have been reported on the Songlines website but it is on page 26 of the last edition.
I saw Sara some years ago at the Barbican, supporting Oumou Sangare, and was sufficiently impressed to buy her then latest CD. She will be missed.
