In Focus plays 3 hours of a single artist without much talk - not strictly, because, for example the Arvo Part programme features interviews and talks by him, in his native language.
There is a great variety - take a look, I am sure if you like this sub-forum you will find something to enjoy.

I had a morning off after a couple of hard days () in the garden GT; and with an empty house, I ran a bath and fair enjoyed that Sigourney choral programme. Thanks...ideal soaking music.

Glad you like. Every time I go on there I find something to listen to. I'm still not a fan of their use of tags to pin me down, nor the fact that they want me to pay £4 a month to find out who is playing what - although that seems to be inconsistently managed because sometimes you do get track listings. also there is no download facility. It runs out of Hackney in London so we're probably scoring max points on the hipness scale. If we did but know it...if we did but care....

I take your point about World Music on Breakfast, rather than just unusual tracks. It's a long time since I heard any Balinese Gamelan, or Iranian classical, on Breakfast or elsewhere on R3. Looking through last week's listings the nearest we got to World Music was a piece about a wedding on St Kilda - not quite beyond our shores. And anyway later in the week Tom played another Bach cello suite, this time played by Yoyo Ma!

I take your point about World Music on Breakfast, rather than just unusual tracks. It's a long time since I heard any Balinese Gamelan, or Iranian classical, on Breakfast or elsewhere on R3. Looking through last week's listings the nearest we got to World Music was a piece about a wedding on St Kilda - not quite beyond our shores. And anyway later in the week Tom played another Bach cello suite, this time played by Yoyo Ma!

This is the World Music thread after all, so, with all due respect, a Fournier Bach, lovely though it is, instead of a Yo Yo Ma Bach doesn't register any points on our unusuality score.
Whilst not at all wishing to reinvoke the highly stale "Well, it's all music innit" debate, this particular sub-forum is more than prone, in fact dedicated, to the odd non-classical track.
One or two a show is all we ask.

I have found Tom McKinney puts out quite a few unusual items. For example on Monday he played the Fournier Bach first cello suite recorded in 1960. Quoting the producer he said that it was the best recording that money can buy. I agreed with this, but have never heard Petroc, or anyone else on R3, play it in the last 15 years. They usually stick to YoYo Ma (why?).

Given that there is only 1 hour of dedicated regular music to this preferred interest on r3 at the moment, the current Breakfast mix is disappointing. Should be compulsory on all r3 shows..

... For me one of the best things about Petroc in the morning was that he always caught me on the hop with something really unusual/ unexpected - that hasn't happened at all with Mr McKinney - I find him uninspiring.
