Been getting your Tiresias out for the lads, ammy?!

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

You were not suffering from sun stroke. I did indeed very briefly post an answer but deleted it as:

            (1) I subsequently noticed that Caliban had previously mentioned Respighi; and

            (2) I was about to go out.

Well I was thinking of yer actual Oedipus Rex by Stravinsky; Les Mamelles de Tiresias by Poulenc; and Tiresias a ballet by Constant Lambert

                You are a gent scb.

It's odd when posts disappear - Anna is a deleter of posts! On one thread, I think the weather one, she teased me and someone else, S_A I think, about being "aesthetes" because we don't get up at half past five in the morning, or something It was hilarious, but I was looking for it and it's gone!

That happens to other things that appear at half past five in the morning

Plays havoc with yer Tiresias as well

                        I'm having an early-ish night.

Apols if my waiting for fhg's confirmation that my answers are ok means that there isn't an overnight puzzle.

                          - Apologies! All details correct: I was assuming this when I handed U the baton!
Sleep well: don't forget the clocks go forward and look forward to tomorrow's puzzle.

If anybody's having trouble getting to sleep, there seem to be plenty of versions of Schubert's 'Lullaby' on youtube.

To be honest fhg I was yawning away & finding it difficult to keep sleep's crushed velvet curtains from enveloping me so I succumbed

My first name might be seen by foreigners as something fowl; a contemporary composer from another land composer described my violin sonata as "dissonant from beginning to end" and "kind of ugly"; but my composition mentor might have been interested in marriage.

                              What U am I?
