    National poetry Day thursday 6th

Andrew Motion was on Jarvis Cocker today advertising Thursday's National Poetry Day and also giving info about the poetry archive which has poets recorded reading their work. Motion was really very interesting, I thought. The interview is about 40 minutes in and runs through with poetic breaks from Tennyson, Betjeman, Auden and others till 90 minutes in. Here's the link.

Near the end there's 'Eden Rock read by Charles Causley recorded just before his death - very moving indeed; and then followed by Dangling Conversation by Simon and Garfunkel - I'd forgotten how wonderfully poetic that song was.

....and here's the link to the archive

I've recently picked up the 5th Edition of the Norton Anthology of poetry for £1 at a charity shop. I gave them some extra, as this is a real bargain - the notes are excellent. Happy days.
