I just noticed that someone has wished Sheila Armstrong 'Happy Birthday' today under the You Tube upload of a Handel aria from 1966 in which she is accompanied by the LSO conducted by Stokowski. It's beautifully sung and played so is a nice 73rd birthday present ...

I was never a fan of SA on record, but she could be stunning in live performances. She sang in The Kingdom in Sheffield City Hall in the 1980s. It was so good that I went to the repeat performance in the Free Trade Hall on the following day.
