    School Drama on Radio 4

The Afternoon Theatre on Radio 4 is running a 4-part serial, a dystopian piece set in a school. Chaos, political correctness, dogma and distorted aims are discovered by an outsider who goes in to produce a play. It all sounds depressingly close to reality!

A failing school tries to turn itself around by staging Romeo and Juliet.

Not so much 'close' - in uncomfortably many places, it's smack on. IME.

The resulting school production of Romeo and Juliet was performed (against all the odds!) on R4 today. It was an inevitably shortened version, but I found it quite moving. The soundscape throughout the series and today was excellent.

        Totally agree.
        A remarkable sequence of dramas.
Tom Hollander outstanding, as were the kids.
