Early Music on CD Review 16 June 9.05

AM in (mostly) EM mode (before Sibelius sets in )

    Venice by Night
Arias and concertos by Pollarolo, Albinoni, Vivaldi, Veracini and Porta.
    La Serenissima, Adrian Chandler (conductor)

    Notte Veneziana
VIVALDI arr. KLIERNE, MARCELLO, PARISH ALVARS, ALBINONI, PESCETTI, GODEFROID
Xavier de Maistre (harp), l’arte del mondo, Werner Ehrhardt (artistic director)

Mr de Machy - Pieces de viole: Suites de danses. Paris, 1685

    Paolo Pandolfo (viola da gamba)

    LAWES: Consorts to the Organ
    Phantasm with Daniel Hyde (organ)

[ed] Never mind Sibelius. Andrew is back on EM at 10 20 with I Fagiolini, Iestyn Davies, and Sandrine Piau … mmm, this looks rather familier

Davies includes some of the showstoppers written for Guadagni by Handel and Arne, delivering them with wonderful finesse and flawless tone, writes Tim Ashley

A whistle-stop tour through a colossal and at times unfamiliar repertory, writes Tim Ashley

Never knew that Parish Alvars belongs to the Early Music category.
Looks like Early Music is everything before early Brahms now

        Whatever: Interesting indeed.
