    The hardline Brucknerologists do not pull their punches concerning the Haas edition… it’s true that it’s a bit mix and match, generally taking on revisions but rejecting cuts deemed to have been made under duress.

        It's 60 years ago and also Barbirolli's first time conducting the symphony. It would be a pioneering experience for the audience as LPs of the piece were scare at the time. Haas edition used and he knocks 2 minutes off the finale compared to Elder. To be honest I enjoy it,as JB is persuasive no matter what he does..
