Anne Boleyn's Songbook: R3 in Concert, 12 July

Delighted to hear a work unknown to me, Anne Boleyn's Songbook, performed at York Minster Chapter House as part of York's Early Music Festival on R3- David Skinner directs Alamire in a collection of Boleyn's favourite music assembled in a book that she probably kept until her execution in 1536. It includes works by some of the greatest composers of the early 16th century: Compere, Brumel, Mouton and Josquin. The programme concludes with a haunting setting of O Deathe Rock Me Asleep, possibly linked to Anne's fate as she awaited her execution in the Tower of London. Exquisite.

The concert enhanced for me by the acquisition of new hi-fi, tuner and amplifier on Onyko, after 30 years of Technics equipment which arrived in time for last week's Ring cycle!
