    Those January Barbican weekends

I am still programmed to expect one of those BBC Barbican single composer
weekends at this time of the year. You know, it was when John Tusa used
    to do the presenting.

    Any memories ?

A first rate Weill weekend in 2000 for starters. It was good to hear
the first symphony live of a Saturday lunchtime for example.

Just a side note: the Total Immersion events continue, with Ferneyhough in February and Peter Eötvös in May, but only a single day, I think, and not clear when they go out on R3 and in what format.

Tusa, of course, at the Barbican at the time of the memorable Cage Uncaged event in 2004.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

The Cage, Ives and Messiaen weekends stand out for me. Of the others, I suppose the Adams weekend had its good points. I can't immediately recall the others. Can someone perhaps list them?

There was Henze last year. And in 2003 they had Turnage.

If I recall correctly, the Henze was one of the Total Immersion days, rather than a composer weekend. I do sort of recall a Turnage weekend. Not a composer whose work I am particularly interested in though. There was, of course (how could it have slipped my memory) the wonderful "Get Carter" weekend in 2006.

George Crumb in 2009. But as per Bryn's comment the "Get Carter" weekend was remarkable imho.
