Wednesay night's performance of the LPO at the RFH

Did anyone else hear last night’s performance by the LPO conducted by Yannick Nezet Segun (phew!)?

An interesting combination. The comparatively rarely heard Franck Symphony and the Faure Requiem.

The performance brought out nuances which I had not heard before. Probably less drama and more depth. I thought the soloists in the Faure were excellent and it was great to hear a full orchestra and organ in the Faure.

I agree entirely. These were very fine performances of both works. The Franck Symphony is a joy when interpreted and played as well as this. Nezet Segun is someone to watch, his Bruckner 7 with the LPO of a couple of years ago was magnificent. He gave a very beautiful and weighty (Brucknerian?) rendition of the Faure Requiem, and Gerald Finley was excellent. Finley be taking the role of Hans Sach’s at Glyndebourne in the summer, which is a prospect to relish.
