    Purcell’s King Arthur: 22 October 2.00pm

Still a week to wait but this should be worth waiting for.

Penny Gore introduces the Thursday opera matinee, a performance of Purcell's semi-opera King Arthur recorded at this year's Utrecht Early Music Festival.

    Vox Luminis
    Ensemble La Fenice
    Jean Tubéry (conductor)
Unique performances with BBC Orchestras, Choirs and other great orchestras

Here’s the performance if you can't wait.

Which is the final opera, then?

          Dream of Gerontius?

The terms "semi-opera", "dramatic[k] opera" and "English opera" were all applied to Restoration entertainments that combined spoken plays with masque-like episodes employing singing and dancing characters […]

Nor could I, and it was. Just in case anybody is interested, here’s the libretto.

I wonder how long it will take for R3 not to bother broadcasting stuff that's already on youtube?

(A long time I hope because my computer doesn't connect to my sound system, and we have rubbish broadband speeds even if it did!)
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Something wrong with my calendar? - today is Thursday 22 …
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
