I would never in a million years have expected to encounter Fafner the Dragon in this competition. But I suppose this is Wales...

I bought me a man. My man pleased me. Bravo! But not to the subtitles who informed me that what he bought him was a wife...

No subtitles here for the Copland or the Elgar!

Unfortunate in the case of the Elgar as far as I was concerned. I suppose the assumption was that as the words were English we didn't need any help making out what was being sung.
I could understand more of the German and Italian that Mingjie Lee was singing than the Elgar.
The two who gave me most pleasure and I would very much like to hear in the future were the aforementioned tenor, and the 'other' Lee - Sooyeon. That is probably a reflection of the fact I'm not an opera fan and so big voices are not really my thing.
No attempt at the Welsh National Anthem this time - I don't know whether that's better or worse than having it but then cutting it off prematurely to make way for some trailer/announcement or other as happened that last time I watched.

Ah, I'd switched on the optional subtitles, intended for the hard of hearing.

I'm just catching up with the Masterclass clips from the website - Kiri was great, if you like watching that sort of thing. I do, so I am looking forward to the others.
