I still have all of my vinyl and still play some of it regularly, some of the works not being available in other formats.

Berlioz. Overtures and "Funeral and Triumphal" Symphony.

                Various. (free download from Rediscovery).

A nice little mystery to boot.
I wonder if any board members can shed light on the elusive Mr Ernest Graf?!

I still have lots of vinyl - but don't give them a spin as often as CDs, but when I do, like today - I make an event of it!

                  At the moment;

                  Bruch
                  Scottish Fantasy
                  Violin concerto no. 2
                  Perlman, New Philharmonia/Lopez-Cobos

                  Kodaly

                  Hary Janos
                  Dances of Galanta
                  2 arias from Janos
                  LSO/Kertesz

                  Mussorgsky
Pictures at an Exhibition (piano version)

No, sorry, BBM, . But if you download it for free you can work it out.
                            What are the different versions?

I don't know for sure, ts, as there are, surprisingly a fair few. My favourites are the ones by Sir Colin Davis(ofcourse), and Charles Dutoit as well. The RNCM Band, have done a recording on Chandos(which I have, incidentally, with excellant bone playing from NYPO's own Joe Alessi), but I think that the sound quality and interpretation on that falters, imo.

Arcades, I also love these works (particularly the K334) and agree that they have to be performed as chamber music. I used to go to the Gaudier's mini-festival at Cerne Abbas in the late 1980s and early 1990s (no idea if it still goes on). Good as their recording of the Schubert Octet is, it was surpassed by a performance I heard by them at Cerne around that time.

Fine though their K334 is, I have a very soft spot for the Vienna Octet recording (with Anton Fietz as 1st violin, not an earlier one with Willi Boskovsky - it's on an Australian Eloquence release with the title Five Mozart Divertimenti). The playing of Fietz is such an outstanding example of that particular, long-vanished style that it shines through the whole work - which is not to say that Marieke Blankestijn's playing in a quite different style is not also wonderful.
