    Well, slight, certainly. A very odd movement to follow the first. Of course, Mendelssohn cobbled together a lot of earlier pieces and new ones to make "Sonatas" as requested by by the publisher. The first movement was originally a wedding processional and the fugue on "Aus tiefer Not" replaced its middle section.

    I'm not sure it's a very 'Lenten' piece, in spite of the chorale. I prefer to play the 1st movement of the first sonata in Lent. (Another fine movement IMHO.)
